I have thought about this a lot. I feel the only reason App Developers are feeling safe is because Apple updates their apps just once a year in fall and are usually slow with implementing ground-up features in a single year i.e. they usually tend to get better over 2-3 years.
Developers have an edge where they can improve throughout the year and think in different dimensions whereas Apple sticks to keeping their app design and function, SIMPLE.
