As an iPad Air (2020) user, I complete agree with your view. I got my iPad when I was in college and needed just a note-taking device. However, my use case of the iPad now involves writing Medium stories using the Magic Keybaord. I have even started using it for Digital Art and the display has started to matter to me now more than ever.
I believe my next purchase would be an iPad Pro if the Air doesn’t get an OLED display in the upcoming years.
